Thoughts On The News.
Let’s try this again from the iPad2. WordPress is a bit difficult. It’s cumbersome from here. It’s the app as much as the iPad. Typing is no picnic either. As a touch typist since junior high this hunt and peck is a pain. Just not enough room for touch though I’m trying it a bit. Slowing helps. I don’t see how the new, smaller Amazon Kindle Fire will get around this. But I digress.
Elizabeth Warren and the Blessings of Government
(Google the phrase if the link doesn’t work.)
“There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody,” she said at a campaign event. “You built a factory out there—good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. . . . You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea—God bless, keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay it forward for the next kid who comes along.”
Hmm. There’s that ‘ol populist, class warfare appeal again. It’s all Richie Rich’s fault! The ominous thing us that at first it seems to make sense. The article explains otherwise but many will not look further to understand. This is a dangerous path the Democrats are taking. It’s “I don’t want to pay anything vs. I want you to pay more”. There are nearly enough pay-nothings to vote it in. Sad and ominous.
(P.S. The touch typing is improving.)
