1 June. Swim Day this morning, luau tonight.
Fitness center 5:45am, with a Starbucks of course. (Should they be giving me free stock instead of free coffee every 15 buys?)
8:30a we head south on the coast path to Wailea Beach Park in front of the Four Seasons Hotel again. The water is calmer than Wednesday but it is a bit silty. There aren’t nearly as many fish as we saw last Sunday but we find a few to watch. We see our friend ‘Big Turtle’ again.
After a swim we go back to the hotel and hit the pool. The Mahi fish and chips served poolside is some of the most moist and tender I’ve had. Later it’s crash time at the room, resting for the big luau this evening.
Te Au Moana Luau at the Wailea Marriott. “The Ocean Tides.” We have never been to a luau before and we are looking forward to it. We pay a few dollars extra and join a front row table with front row seats. Our table has pleasant couples from the Midwest, East Coast, and Canada. Before dinner we listen to the musicians and walk around looking at crafts.
A roast pig is dug up and paraded:
Our table chats (well, the table occupants, not the table itself). Dinner is served buffet style. There is plenty of it and it is good. My seafood diet is in overdrive. (See food eat it, that is.):
Time for the obligatory sunset shots and a few personal pix before the luau show starts:
Showtime. Great dancing and narration telling the story of Hawaii. My photos do not. Must.. get.. VideoPress so I can display… videos!
Tomorrow, Day Final – Haleakala.
