M’lady and I spent a long weekend in western Colorado and the town of Paonia for the North Fork Uncorked winefest.  Colorado makes some very decent wines these days, not only in the West Elks area but all around Grand Junction and Palisades, Colorado too.  Some lists have over 100 wineries throughout the state.

To get to Paonia we had to stop in Frisco, CO for one of their annual BBQ fests.  A stop at the Frisco BBQ fest means a mandatory stop for Golden Toad (sauce makers) Shrimp Bombs:

A few more BBQ fest pictures are here.

The drive to Paonia takes us to Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, past Mt. Sopris and Redstone, and over McClure Pass.

Home for the weekend is the Rocky Mountain Inn, Paonia:

More pictures of the R.M.I. are here.

Tomorrow we wine and wine and dine.
