The Lens Artists Challenge is hosted this week by Tina. She coaxes us:
“Each of us at some point has visited a place that holds special memories. It may have been a small town, a big city, or even better, an entire country. We’d like you to capture the spirit of a place that is vivid in your memory. What was it that drew you in and why did it capture YOUR heart?”
Ski resorts, skiing, mountains, mountain homes. I rest my case. (Why am I not there? Avoiding happiness, of course.)
North of 285, South Park, and Jefferson, CO.At Copper Mountain, circa 12,000′ ASL, give or take. (No, that’s not an oxygen mask.)Mt. San Jacinto, Palm Springs, SoCal.Steamboat (Springs). Colorado.Alta, Utah. Decades ago. Print to digital conversion.Alta, same as before. A previous incarnation.Home sweet home sweet home, once upon a time in the West. Views to die for. SOLD, to the highest bidder.Stairs? I was younger then.Cross-country skiing, the water tank on Boreas Pass road. Previous incarnation, etc.
Cheers.
Weekly Challenge info from Tina:
“Each Saturday at noon EST we will publish a photo challenge similar in form to the now-defunct WPC. If you choose to participate, please make sure to tag your post with the name of our group LENS-ARTISTS so that all of the responses can be found together in the WP Reader. Please also include a link to the challenge moderator’s post. One of our 4 moderators will host the challenge each week.”
My brother is in evergreen Colo and we leave to visit but avoid the snowiest times. Back in the day 😊 we too loved skiing out west (eastern skiing doesn’t come close). Your home looks to have been perfect John. Wonderful memories my friend.
Wow – such variety – and a few memories surfaced for me with the familiar places.
Your home looks like it was awesome and hope you get some skiing in soon!
Thank you. It… was… HOME! Like few others. It may snow a bit next week, but too early to play. Looking forward to snow-hiking at the end of November, then some skiing.
Awesome John! All wonderful. But the San Jacinto, a place I know well, is a masterpiece.

We were up there last March, in 4″ of snow. Wonderland.

Gorgeous photos of mountain, snow, skiing, John. They tell that you like them. Good choice of picking the place(s).

Love these photos! Great choice. I recall the beautiful powdering snow. I think it’ is the best place for skiing.

Loved your post. I lived in Summit County for 15 years, so it was memories for me, too.

Excellent! It’s changing, of course, but we still like it a lot.

I’m not a skier, but I love being in the mountains and these shots all make me long for a road-trip!
