The Lens Artists Challenge is hosted this week by Viveka.
About the theme, she notes:
“I have chosen the topic/theme, to make it easy for myself!! But also because I have travelled a lot and lived abroad for nearly 24 years. I love big cities with bright lights.”
“It doesn’t have to be about capital cities – however, you want to interpret it – all up to you.”
This time we will look at a capitol in a capital. It is the state capitol building in Denver, the state capital of Colorado.
Capitols are frequently domed buildings, as we see within:
There is a lot of heavy-duty brass in the building, such as these railings:
As grandeur is a large part of politics, perhaps, there is a multi-storied open space within the capitol:
The building faces west, of course, with views of the City and County of Denver Building and the Rocky Mountains:
What else is representative of state capitals in the U.S? Maybe the railroad station, once a means of industrialization, development, and ‘progress’:
The only thing more American than train stations and apple pie (hold the cards and letters please, European apple confections are to die for) is baseball. Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, in the capital city of Denver:
Good topic Viveka. I am enjoying the many entries.
Enjoy.
Kudos to the tireless leaders of the weekly Lens-Artists challenge and best wishes for 2020.
Nice assortment of iconic images.

John, what a great gallery – stunning images from inside the capitol building are amazing … especially with the different floors and rails. Thank you so much for bringing me to Denver … and for playing.

Thank you for the grand tour, John! I have never been to Denver, and never seen such powerful railings!

As mundane as brass may seem, at least it has not been used for ammunition. ‘Make love, not war!’, or least ‘make railings!!’

Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation aren’t for everybody, which is why I greatly appreciated the emphasis of difference between “capital” and “capitol.” I was amused, too! Denver looks great, but I’ve yet to visit.
