The Lens-Artists Challenge is hosted this week by Ana.
As Ana notes, Annie (the musical) sings:
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There’ll be sun!”
Mention the sun to me, and my mind also starts singing:
“Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes”
–The Beatles
Last April, somewhat early on in this epi-pan-demic, I was fiddling with my camera and happened to be looking at the sun-icon above my tv while the Denver mayor announced the latest restrictions meant to stem the tide of disease:
To this very week he is still announcing, as ‘the next wave’ of COVID cases and deaths rears its ugly head vociferously. I do remain optimistic that ‘We Shall Overcome’. Come-on vaccinnnnes!!!
Last April I also happened to be looking on my computer, at the sun on fellow blogger Amy’s posts:
Despite my somewhat grouchy demeanor (MOI’!!! No way!) and my ever growing lack of patience as I age into possible imbalances in humors, I consider my self ultimately an optimist, my cup always half full and never half empty.
The sun can shine on warm summer days…
…or wonderful winter mountains…
“Oh, Shine on, shine on, harvest moon [SUN!]
Up in the sky;” –Shine On Harvest Moon
Stay safe, be well. Be kind to one another. The Sun will come out Tomorrow!
John, I like your take on this challenge and images. And you quoted from one of my favorite songs, “Here Comes The Sun!” I was going to use it in my blog and still will. It does give us hope. Take care John.

I’m with you John! The sun is shining here today and that makes me smile. When the sun comes in our east facing window and shines onto our breakfast table I do not mind that it get in my eyes. I just absorb those rays. I really enjoyed your post!

When I saw the “At Home” sun image on WP Reader, I was bit of surprised. Thank you for mentioning, John.
“… my cup always half full and never half empty.” Very cool. Love your sense of humor. The third image looks like Grand Lake. The last image, Wow!! I think we were there some 100 years ago. 🙂

My cup tends to be at the same level of fullness, John. 🙂 I love those two mountain shots, especially the one with snow, something I’m not going to be seeing much now. So I’ll enjoy yours.

LOL John – we shall have to have a moon challenge one of these days! In the meanwhile your images of sun, and your sunny disposition are both wonderful!

Ha ha. Thank you Tina. I just now had a hard time thinking of moon songs, except for Shine On Harvest Moon, but there is Neil Young’s Harvest Moon, and ‘It’s only a Paper Moon’, I suppose. Moon shots, a definite maybe.

I love that winter photo! The beauty of the scene is not lost on me, even though the winds are blowing snow around on the top of the mountain. It makes me think of that sting on the face on a cold day!

Wow, those are both gorgeous shots, John. The snow is something we don’t see much of here, so I have to say it’s my fav. When we move to Prescott and see snow again, my preference may drift back to the other one. Hard to tell. That snow is pretty stunning.

Thank you Marsha. Arizona Highways magazine used to have drop-dead photos of snow-dusted Arizona in winter. Don’t know if they still publish it, but you should find good snow shots in AZ.

My grandfather loved Arizona Highways, John. He collected them. Visiting Arizona was the favorite vacation of his life.

Gorgeous, John – snow and all, just what I am missing so much in later years. A really sunny post – with old Beatles as well – who never will grow old. Cheers on the half full!

Thank you Sue. Several inches of snow here in Denver last night, and cold, cold, cold. I better stay inside! 😉

Fantastic choices for the challenge, John. I like the way the sun glistens on the water in the first photograph.
I really like the 2nd photograph because I haven’t been near snow since 1989. I used to enjoy it when it snowed from my window inside the house. LOL Long Island, NY winters were harsh. Thanks for the memory.
Stay Safe … Isadora 😎
