Per Leya/A-C: “…we invite you share images that feature a subject starting with the letter S.”
My last three posts have been (SOFT) snow related. Why stop now? Thus, I submit for your perusal, photo SNOW-TOS.
It doesn’t get softer than high up, in the background, on Copper Mountain:
…or softer than my all-time, most favorite, very very old, t-shirt:
Ok, snow sculptures are not very soft when finished, but they start as fresh fallen snow, gathered and packed into 10′ cubed forms, and then sculpted by clearing away everything that is not the final image:
Former soft snow dog, RIP, was softly booted for snow sculpture sightseeing (shades of ESSES!):
Here’s an appropriate SnowPhoto for Snow-Pho-tographers:
Finally, a bit of the dramatic:
There’s snow business like snow business. Snow flies on us. SOFT.
Stay safe, be well.
Cold or not ..this snow offers a great site to take photos of.

I love these snow sculptures. The horse one especially as it has so much movement in it. The snow will soon be gone from us here I think but it has been beautiful and as you say ‘soft”.

Dear John,
as snow and winter fans we really like your pictures. Snow is an ideal metaphor for SOFT. It starts soft, gets hard then to end soft again.
Thanks for sharing.
All the best

Magnificent snow sculptures! I’ve been watching some of the winter sports on the Olympics Channel. As soft as snow looks, it sure doesn’t act that way when these guys take a tumble at 80 Km/H. >grin<

Ha! Thank you John. Yup, it can be hard. Race courses are actually nearly ice hard. Very packed down.

Yup. And those bobsled/skeleton tracks are ice hard. No wonder they wear helmets.

LOL John, am sure your old, soft t-shirt is a treasure! A great array of photographs and your beautiful snow dog is my favorite.

Thank you Sylvia. I LOVE that old t-shirt, but not nearly as much as I loved that old dog.

How elaborate these snow sculptures are. Though I suppose they are really ice sculptures

Nope. Snow, packed into 10’ cubed plywood forms, which is removed for sculpting.

Looks like a lot of fun, John. Love the teeshirt and the snow bootees. Not sure if your 4 legged friend is amused…but warm, for sure 🙂 🙂

Snow is something that can be lovely when it’s falling and when sculpted. I like that last carving in particular. And your dog photo is adorable!

Fantastic post, John 👏 My favourite has to be the T-shirt, I love topical ones; my wife got me a Camera Sutra one (different positions photographers get into for the perfect shot 😂) for my birthday 😃
