The Lens Artist Challenge is hosted this week by Tina.
A childless person who may have difficulty relating to humans might shower attention on a domesticated animal such as a dog. Such was the case with my West Highlands White Terrier named KaCee.
Although it was poorly trained it appeared to manifest a high degree of intelligence; watching tv, barking at animals it saw there, observing human tasks performed, as if it wanted to comprehend what was being done.
It was a much loved dog, receiving affection that couldn’t be expressed to people.
Several galleries selected from A Dog’s Life follow. Click on a picture to open a gallery and cursor through.

Number two:
Westie buddy.
Made it this far! Sign should say Colorado Walker.
Bandana on, ready to walk.
Dog of the Day.
None for me Dad? 😦
Click through the zooms and look at FurrBall’s face and icicles. What’s not to love?
f/7, hardly a portrait aperture. (Bigger, smaller number, is better I’m told.)
f/20. NOT right for a closeup either. I was shooting mtns. from Dillon Starbucks.
In between landscape shots again, walking near North Pond Park, Silverthorne.
Zoom close enough on the right eye and you can see the photographer kneeling to take the photo. Ain’t photography grand?!
19 Sep 2013.
Overexposed: ISO 640; 55mm; 4 EV; f/4; 1/160.
Better exposure, probably didn’t need EV setting but learning. Overexposed: ISO 640; 55mm; 1 EV; f/4; 1/160.
A dog compilation in my future.
The lake is beautiful today.

I’m thinking…

Ahh… smell the roses, or whatever happens to be nearby.
Number three and final:
Our dearly loved little girl passed away during surgery for a liver tumor. 11 years young, we never expected to lose her so soon, as Westies often live to 14 or 15. M’lady said and I concur, ‘our hearts are broken’.

If you choose to participate, please make sure to tag your post with the name of our group LENS-ARTISTS so that all of the responses can be found together in the WP Reader. Please also include a link to the challenge moderator’s post. One of our 4 moderators will host the challenge each week.”

Oh what a celebration post and I smiled me I scrolled the photos
–
Sorry about her not making it thru surgery – hat must have been extra hard – the shock –
Because it is easier (IMO) when we know the end is near –
Oh John, what a mark she made on your life and your hearts. She’s adorable and looks really sweet. They do find a way to make us melt, don’t they. So sorry she was taken so soon.
The way you speak of her, the way she looked into camera when you took the photo tells how much she meant for you. Sorry for your loss. Takes a lot of heart to love an animal 🙂
I’m sorry for your loss, John – KaCee was a sweetie. Much loved, I know you did everything you could for her. So many lovely shots! My eldest is 11 now and has been operated on several times. Precious time to still have him here.
What a wonderful tribute to KaCee, John. She was certainly well-loved and cared for. I was touched by the shot of her sitting with a person with a broken leg. (Was that you?) Dogs really can read emotions. They are so willing to care for us and lend emotional support when we need it. So touching.
These are lovely photos of your dear little Westie. I am sorry she passed and left you behind. We just had to have our little Schnauzer put to sleep last April. She was 14. We are getting a new puppy next week. I guess we will be up a lot at night for a few days.
I feel from all the wonderful photos that she was dearly loved and missed. Pets always take a part of our hearts with them, but we were blessed to have shared life with them.
Certainly loved. Sorry she passed too soon. I love that you took her so many places. Thanks to you her life indeed was full. Have a nice week John, Donna
John, I’m so sorry. What a precious love KaCee was. Our little Kalev (pronounced Kay Love) lives a similar life with us, so my heart hurts for you both.

Very observant. Broken ankle. Skiing. I was younger then. I’m no wiser now.

I’m hoping for more wisdom too as I get older. Still waiting. 🙂 🙂

Wisdom is supposed to go hand in hand with maturity, but for some of us, it is a different story

Sad about your Schnauzer. VERY tough to put them to sleep. We’ve done it before. Congrats on your new dog!
