The Lens Artists Challenge is hosted this week by Tina.
Nostalgia can be many things. Old, new, bold, blue. For some, it’s
CARS!
Sate yourself, or forever hold your peace.
I leave you with this quote from the Lapham’s Quarterly weekly email:
““What else than a natural and mighty palimpsest is the human brain?” asked Thomas De Quincey, who died on this day in 1859. “Such a palimpsest is my brain; such a palimpsest, oh reader, is yours.””
Enjoy!
Kudos to the tireless leaders of the weekly Lens-Artists challenge.
Wow John! What a great idea, you nailed it this week!

Wow John – at first when I saw “34” photos in the opening line I was expecting to scroll and scroll – but did not – instead – you did a fine job with the tile layout like this – made it so smooth and seamless -and the cars are way cool – going to look again

yes – I recently started exploring with the galleries – so far only really used the regular slides and then tiles – but you really demonstrated how to utilize that option)

Ha! Thanks Cee. I don’t know much about cars but I like to look. Growing up in the late ’50s, early ’60s, my friends and I would marvel at the new car models every year with their soaring tail fins and bullet noses. Loved to look at ‘hot rods’ too. It just stuck as a fascination.

Brilliant as the colors and brands and shapes of the cars.I specially like the Blue , I guess a Chevrolet…I fancy it because it was a blue Chevrolet (an official car of my Uncle Head of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in 1957 ) which was a frequent visitor and I would have the honor to sit in the drivers seat as a very young child. It was a royal feeling, holding the silver steel steering wheel, the strangely sweet scent of leather inside and the white uniform clad driver holding his peak cap standing at guard, lest I let free the gear, unforgettable and no doubt ‘Nostalgic’ Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the blue with grey ‘flames’, in two photos, is a Chevy, circa 1957. Such memories.

I love the dashboards of those old cars and the way the instruments and dials were designed. Someday I am going to make some quilts of those great designs! Beautiful photos!

This is exactly like the museum I just visited. Aren’t the cars awesome?
I enjoyed visiting and seeing the changes over the years. My neighbor is a car restorer – hobby – and the ones he brings back to life are fabulous. GREAT CHOICES for the challenge.

As I am Afrikaans speaking the word palimpsest is totally unknown to me. I looked it up and you have expanded my vocabulary. If it has become archaic then it really fits into the nostalgic theme
