The movie The King’s Speech

Excellent movie. Oscar material, IMHO. REAL acting, and cursing that is NOT GRATUITOUS! (Watch for it.) I didn’t think it was possible.

Actors who ACT a ROLE, not carry their own persona from movie to movie. (Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter. Oscar material, I say.)

It’s set in 1930’s England and it’s about Prince Albert, soon to be King George VI of England when King Edward VIII abdicates to chase his desire in the form of American divorcee Wallis Simpson, and his speech impediment. Albert is the father of current Queen Elizabeth II.

I love period pieces, with the historical settings, props, and costumes, and hopefully faithful and somewhat accurate events.

I saw it over the holidays. I recommend it.
